The Village Board of Trustees is a seven member board consisting of one (1) President and six (6) Trustees, which are elected at-large. All members are elected to two-year terms, with local elections for the selected seats taking place in April.
The Village Board of Trustees serves as the legislative or decision-making branch of Village government. Individual Trustees are not able to act solely on behalf of the Village; and may only exercise power when a majority of the Board is present. The Village Board is responsible for appointing the Village Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer as well as confirms all other appointments made by the Village President to each of the various Boards and/or Commissions/Committees of the Village. The Village Board holds all authority for the management and control of Village property, finances, and infrastructure. In addition, the Village Board sets, approves, and amends the Village budget; approves the payment of claims; enacts ordinances, resolutions, and motions; enters into contracts, issues licenses, and levies taxes.
