The purpose of this process is to provide regulations that enable a hearing and decision on requests for permitted variation from the terms of the Village zoning ordinance as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special factors a literal enforcement of the provisions would result in practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship so that the spirit shall be observed, public safety and welfare secured, and substantial justice done, as provided for by Section 62.23(7)(e)(7) of Wisconsin Statutes.

Proceedings for approval of a requested variance shall be initiated by an application of the owner(s) or their authorized agent of the subject property.

All applications for requested variances shall be approved as complete by the Zoning Administrator a minimum of two weeks prior to the initiation of this procedure. The Zoning Administrator shall determine whether the application is complete and fulfills the requirements of this Chapter.
